Capture One, all versions, no longer works on my system
This is very frustrating. I had been using the latest version of Capture One Pro (23) without any difficulty. Then, it wouldn't open a file. I had to force quit to get the application to close. I tried a different file. It hung again.
I have now reinstalled Capture One about 7 times and it will not run. I reverted to v. 20 and that worked to open about 3-4 files, then it stopped working also. I uninstalled the software, reinstalled it, and it did the same thing: hung while loading a file.
I went back to the website and saw a slightly newer version of v.23 today, downloaded it, and installed it. That version worked to open two files, then failed on the third. After that, it won't open anything because it wants to open the file it failed to load when it crashed before.
This is very frustrating because I need C1 to view my Phase One files.

I've just discovered that version 22 works (so far). I hope I don't need any of my more recent files soon, or I'll have to reprocess the raw files into new C1 files using the older software.

You haven't provided any details of your system, Andrew - hardware, spec, what you've changed (or not) recently - how is anyone supposed to help?

Keith, well-spotted, you've found the flaw in my original post. The problem is that it is pretty obvious that none of those things are relevant.
I've been using Capture One since I bought my first Phase One camera in 2015. Until two weeks ago, I hadn't experienced a single software error of any kind in any of the versions of Capture One that I've used.
I haven't added software or hardware to my system in months. Therefore, no software or hardware installs could be the culprit.
My computer is an Intel i7-11700 2.5GHz system (16 CPUs), with 131 GB RAM and 2x NVidea GeForce GTX 970 cards. My O/S is Window 11.
The crash happens as soon as I try to start the app. There are three scenarios I've seen so far:
1) click on Capture One icon to start app (I tested v. 23, 22, and 20). It then asks me what file to load. no matter what file I pick, the system hangs. The first few times, I killed the process after 30-40 minutes.2) As above but instead of clicking on an existing file, I click on "new session". It then gives me a few prompts to create the session. So far, so good. Then, I click on import to import .iiq files into the new file. After selecting the files and clicking on "import images", the system hangs, as before.
3) After uninstalling and reinstalling Capture One (all versions), it is possible to open a file once. However, after being open for a period of time (undetermined but less than a few hours), Capture One freezes exactly as before. After this, Capture One reverts to the behavior described in 1) and 2).
