[CaptureOne 20] Colour editor vs mask
Hi all,
I'm following this excellent tutorial by Dave and Paul on colour editing: https://www.youtube.com/live/-AxbSQLgybQ?feature=share
I'm unable to recreate what's happening at 22:44 - Restricting with a layer. Here's what I'm doing:
- I create an adjustment layer.
- I brush a mask over the area where I want to adjust the colours.
- Selecting the layer with the mask on, I go to the Advanced colour editor and select the colour I want to change, adjusting range etc. with the wheel slider.
Issue: this selects colours in a given range across the entire image, not just within the area that I have masked in. The same thing happens if I use the basic editor, too - if I adjust the reds, all red areas in the image are impacted.
Any ideas? Am I missing something, or is this a CaptureOne 20 limitation/known issue perhaps?

You probably have the checkbox "view selected color range" checked. This function to view the seleced color disrespects the mask, it work on the whole image, it has been so ever since I remember.

The checkbox I mean is in the color editor tool.

Thanks BeO. Yep I do have "View selected colour range" ticked, however, when I adjust, say, saturation, it affects the entire image. So it's not just what I view but also what's impacted by the adjustments. My understanding is that it should work on the masked area only.
E.g. I selected the houses and put the mask on a separate layer (top image) but when I select the yellowish-green walls and adjust the slider it impacts the face of the statues as well (bottomimage).

This was helpful, thank you.
What confused me is when the "View" is selected it not only shows the selected colours in the whole image - it also shows adjustments outside of the mask if I move the sliders. However, when I moved the sliders with "View" unticked the edits were only applied on the masked area, as intended.
Thanks!
