Retoucher here. I desperately need help with getting setting from a shoot

I know that there are also .comask files that you might need, and I know that will depend a lot on what happens before it gets to you (obviously). This Feature Request forum may or may not offer help - and the thread may get moved anyway. I can recommend two facebook groups that have great people who can perhaps help. They are run by Walter Rowe and colleagues: the Capture One Technical Forum (https://www.facebook.com/groups/captureonetech) and Capture One Pro Group By Photographers (https://www.facebook.com/groups/313842842738008). Check those out, join and ask your questions.
Too, EIP files are a fantastic way to share. It's easy to do, and I'm curious as to why there's pushback, do you think, from your colleagues? If they want you to work on raw files with edits / changes already applied, then that's the best option (in my mind), unless, as you say, they ship you the whole session over WeTransfer or similar approach, which can be large. The other way to share information can be through Capture One's Frame.io integration, which is great, but does have associated costs.
At the end of the day, they need to get you the right raws with the associated edits. EIP is really the right way to do it. You can probably do it through .cos and .comask files, but it seems like it's asking for heartache. My 2 cents.

Honestly, I think the push back is laziness/just cant be bothered. I have refound that one work around where you:
- make a new session
- Place the raw files in the capture folder and let CO generate thumbnails
- close CO
- go to the session folders and replace the individual .cos files (not the folder just in case the version you are using is different than what was used on set)
- Restart capture one and hopefully the adjustments will be there.
I guess that's how everyone else does it if they don't have .EIP files. It's just so clunky that I feel there should be an in program process instead of messing about with folders and stuff. Thanks for the facebook group recommendations!

:-) It's that "hopefully" part in #5 that's always concerning. "Hope means Nope". Or even better, "hope isn't a strategy". :-). Give those Facebook groups a try. Best of luck!
I should say that the above steps aren't specifically wrong, it's just that you can't guarantee it. I'd hope that everyone wants the best outcome (I know, I know, "hope means nope"). The in-program process is actually EIP and it works every time, I feel. It's the raw plus the edits. And it's guaranteed.

Your workaround immplies that thereare no images in the Selects folder.
Let me suggest a slightly different order, not addressing the Selects folder but the time you need to wait until you can start working:
- make a new session
- close CO
- Place the raw files in the capture folder
- place the individual .cos files (and .comask files, if exist) in the CaptureOne/Settingsxxx folder (don't replace the folder just in case the version you are using is different than what was used on set)
- Restart capture one and let CO generate thumbnails
- and hopefully the adjustments will be there.
Make sure you have the same version as on set, or a higher version.
The different versions might be a thing, however I don't know if EIP files have any advantage over the .cos / comask files if the versions differ.
If you have more insight from the Facebook groups please consider sharing. (I never joined the sugarmountain empire).
