Perpetual and subscription
I am very confused and conflicted. Does anyone know the answer - If I switch to a subscription plan, can I continue to use the perpetual licence on my older studio computer. The OS of the machine I tether to will probably not run future versions of capture one. I would want to continue using v23 for which I have a perpetual licence on the older computer and edit on a newer machine using the up-to-date subscription version. I see in the forums that for some people their perpetual licence ceases to work once they go to subscription? I'm thinking this can't be correct as the licence is "perpetual".

This license will continue to work however catalogs are not backwards compatible. Once you update your existing catalog to work with the latest version of Capture One, you cannot open it with an older license. You can still open the older Capture One and create a new catalog there or a copy of your existing catalog (provided you did not update it). Although I'm not sure how helpful that is.

I think that was the company's plan beginnig of the year, and maybe this related to "before Feb2023" subscribers. If I log in I see a message

and if you see the same then I think you can still use the old version with your old perp. lic.
Brian is right, you should be aware of this (no downgrade of higher version catalogs or sessions) but is sounds you don't need that if you only tether on your studio machine?

Thanks guys - hopefully this should work then. I tether using sessions which I can upgrade to the latest version when I get them on my editing machine. As an aside, I would be quite happy to continue working with a perpetual licence as I have from v7, but I have a feeling I will regret it if I have to buy a full price new licence too frequently to get support for buggy software.
