Disable iPhone, tethering
Here’s the situation I never encountered. I’m working with a photographer shooting to the Sony R IV to his cheese grater (intel MacPro). The camera shoots but no files come in to the computer. We do this 15 times wondering what the fu@@. I Unplugged the 1 assists iPhone from the computer, so it doesn’t charge anymore. Then we shoot to the cheese grater and all the files come in. I tried the same scenario on my Laptop and the same thing happened. Ever since the iPhone can shoot tether to capture one 23 other cameras may not shoot while the iPhone is connected to the computer.
The Takeaway here is do not charge your iPhone 12 or higher on your computer while tethering the capture one to another camera.

Did you select the camera in Camera tool (most likely still on default Tethering tab) to be operated during tethering? While multiple cameras can be connected at the same time, only one is allowed to transfer.
