Improve file locating and stability
Constant error messages during export. Crashing during editing. Very difficult to use overall as a hobby user.
Issues locating offline files after folders are moved. I was not able to locate all 1600 images in my catalog as a batch. I was only able to locate them 1 by 1. Better batch file/folder locating needed.
No android support for the mobile app.

I see several problems with this report:
- does not follow posting requirements outlined in pinned posts
- too vague
- trying to kill too many birds at once
- discussing topic further is difficult with an anonymous user (there should be at least an unique alias...)
Please consider fixing your post to give your voice a chance to be heard.

I'm trying to give input to my user experience as a whole after trying for a few months to make it work. If the post does not meet your requirements then issues won't be resolved. I'm welcoming discussion but I'm not able to provide tons more detail than provided.

Hello Damon McHale 😄 Please go to the pinned posts, they are in the section for improvements/feature requests. Taking a look at other requests might also shine a light on why it is important to describe what actually pains you - for example I have participated recently in a chat about inefficient upgrade process and at first I was sceptical, but after reading deeper explanations I have noticed how unknowingly accustomed I became to a corrupt scheme, so I have added my support for improvements in this area. Developers/managers might have their vision clouded likewise by working with the software for years and being accustomed to learned workarounds, so unless you show WHY and HOW you are affected, they might not see the problem at all.
Looking at what you wrote, it's possible that some of the most popular requests already cover your areas of interest, so reading existing reports might give you idea of what is currently hot in the community and give you a chance to vote or add your own perspective.

Constant error messages during export. Crashing during editing.
This part looks more like a support case rather than necessary improvement - stability is somewhat mandatory, not "a nice to have" thing. Even if you want to discuss with other Capture One users, please do this in another thread and another part of community.

Are these export errors only occurring with the offline files that need to be located?

Walter Rowe, I had exporting errors even after locating files. I had to select regenerate preview before exporting to get export without errors. For example I regenerated previews, exported 182 photos, and had 4 files show multiple errors. I waited until the main export completed, then selected those 4 files and tried to export again and they exported fine.

John friend, yes I relocated my folder that contained the files outside of capture one. I renamed folders and organized my entire photo collection of over 1tb not knowing capture one wouldn't be able to locate them again with my edits. I found the missing files 1 by 1 for all 182 photos I needed to make edits on. I still had random exporting issues when exporting online files.
I did reach out to support a few times and was sent basic info that I already found searching. Ive sent crash reports with every app crash. Overall as a beginner non professional photographer the constant app crashing and export issues along with the frustration on not being able to move files outside of capture one has pushed me away from the software. Maybe it's user error and maybe it's caused by myself not knowing the software but that's not conducive to attracting hobby photographers.

I can suggest and highly recommend the Capture One Pro YouTube channel if you’ve spent several months trying to get your workflow to work and aren’t where you’d like to be. Not sure what you’ve used in the past. There are great pointers there to help understand the Capture One POV.
For errors, for example, on export, a support ticket is the recommended path. They’ll ask you to be specific with your error messages and provide logs and can help you with what’s going on with your local setup. They’ll want to know OS version, C1 version, and as much detail as you can provide (not much is provided here).
There are some good Facebook groups to join, for example Walter’s “Capture One Technical Forum” is excellent. If you can provide details there - specific error messages and so forth - , you can get great help.
Good luck!

My desired improvement would be for Capture One to "find" candidates for these offline files using filenames, EXIF data, timestamps and present them in a browser that lets me "Accept" or "Reconnect" specific files or all of them.
It doesn't matter how a catalog got into a state where multiple (but not all) files in a folder (or multiple folders) became offline. Once they are offline it is very tedious and slow to "locate" the individual files. We may not realize we have files offline across multiple folders.
The "Locate" feature should be enhanced into a "Find Offline Files" feature that does more work for us.

There appears to be some cruft in this database that accumulates over time, but is never used any more such as old directory names that are no longer in use in the catalog. I wonder if this contributes to catalogs slowing down over time?
If so, would it be possible to clean up or optimize the database using a third-party application?

I think it might be worthwhile to start an "investigation" thread, as such an unofficial "documentation" would come in handy for others as well.

hey Damon McHale thanks for posting, but this sounds more like a support case than a feature request, so i'm moving it to another topic. if you're still having issues while exporting, please consider contacting our support team

Damon McHale, just out of curiosity, were you previously an Aperture user? Aperture, as I recall, allowed you to rename and possibly relocate files in Finder without Aperture losing track of them. It might explain why you thought you could do the same in Capture One. This is not as special as it might seem given Apple had control of the the code for both.

Apple Aperture closely monitored the file system events. Other apps could do that on macOS but they tend not to do that.
