Advanced Search – unresponsiveness
Do other users see this degree of unresponsiveness when using the advanced search pane?

NB: For some reason the spinning ball isn't always captured, so when there's no ball and it looks like nothing is happening, Capture One is also unresponsive.
(This is with a catalogue containing 28.800 images, Capture One 16.3.6.6, MacBook Pro M1 Max 64GB, macOS 14.3.1.)

Gosh, this is no fun. Had it loaded all images before you opened the search dialog?
(Using v22 on Windows, so I can't compare.)

Yes, everything had loaded.
I don't see this with smaller catalogues (less than 10k images). But with larger catalogues (more than 20k images), it starts as soon as I add a search criterion, even before the criterion has been specified, i.e. before there's anything to filter by, and also if the criterion in question is unchecked.

I see something very similar on sessions (16.2 Windows 10). My solution is to edit filters only when disabled and avoid changes while they are enabled. A big NO as well is having more than ~10 images selected when enabling/changing filters.
