You can create metadata presets and apply them on import.

I know I can create metadata presets but I cannot find any way to appy them on import.  The only options I see on Import are Copyright & Description.  The ellipsis (...) only allows Reset Tool and Online Help, no "Load preset" option.  (Using C1 22, build 15.4.3.4)

I am actually more interested in confirming that once an image is in the catalog, C1 does not write any edited metadata to the image; it only writes metadata to exported images - correct?.

Just noticed that I mistakely posted this in the Legacy Software section.  I'm actually using C1 22, so it should be moved to the C1 22 section.

Metadata and Keyword presets can be applied via the Adjustments settings in the import dialog.

    Ian & Walter,

Thanks for the guidance.  It took some poking around in C1 to figure this out.  The procedure to create a custom metadata preset is not easy to find (I had to google search to find it) and when you go to Save Custom Preset you are presented with an additional dialog box that appears to exclude or at least limit many of the very IPTC metadata settings you may have just created.

Further, in the Import dialog, you can only apply a Custom Metadata Preset under Adjustments > Styles, which makes no intuitive sense whatsoever.  IMHO metadata presets should be available under the Metadata tab.

I'll continue to experiment with this but in the big picture I think this could use a lot of improvement in C1.

I concur that it could be more intuitive.

I agree that is is less than intuitive BUT it has been consistent, so far as I recall, over many releases and versions.

So, once you know, you know ... and then intuition matters less.
