capture one update and Macos x update ??
Hello, I now have a Fujif XT5 camera.
Unfortunately, this does not work with capture one 20.
So I have to update for $300.
I would like to do that, but what about the operation system Macos x How long will capture 23 be supported with Macos X updates. Without having to update C1 ????
Suppose there is a new MacOS X and Capture One 23 no longer supports it. Then you have to update capture one again. This will be a costly issue.

This is why people go to a subscription. They can keep current. With subscriptions you earn 20% discount per year towards a perpetual license ("Loyalty Program"). After 5 years you have 100% discount. If at any point after that you choose to cease your subscription you can get a perpetual license for the current version for free so you can continue to use it.

19 euros a month is not cheap for someone who has photography as a hobby and not as a profession. LR is slightly cheaper

Lightroom is cheaper, but you also need to take into account whether you find the Lightroom way of working more to your liking than the Capture One way. Loads of photographers, amateur and professional, use Lightroom, and it is obviously a very good application. But I prefer Capture One, partly because I have got so accustomed to its approach over the years.
And for versions of MacOS and of Capture One, you need to check on Capture One website what versions are supported. (Google "Capture One supported MacOS versions"). I never update MacOS until Capture One supports the new MacOS release.

It's absurd that you can't update your necessary macos X updates for your security reasons because C1 will refuse to work.
Until you buy a new update C1 for 350 euro's
again ABSURD !!0 -
Well, the same goes for any software you rely on. Before updating my MacOS, I would want to check whether my Microsoft Word, or my Affinity Publisher, or my DaVinci Resolve, or my HP printer, etc would still work with it. (Although I admit that Capture One is one of the more expensive apps I have installed, so the consequences if my current version is not supported could be more costly.)

cengiz ozgok .. were it not for a required subscription Adobe would require the same kind of paid updates and would not backport this kind of support.

I have bought Davinci Resolve Studio in 2012 for 300 euro and it still works after 12 years
And I can Upgrade every new version for free !!0 -
Completely different revenue stream. Black Magic Design is a HARDWARE company. I am sure they lose money on DaVinci Resolve. They want to sell hardware.

I also have a FujiFilm, but a GFX. Cap One seems to do a better job with the FujiFilm raw files and understands the film simulation better than other software I've used. Not sure what Lightroom does now. When I got the FujiFilm I did not think I would like or use the film simulation much but I've found it to be much more useful than I expected and the close support of Fuji by Cap One is appreciated. And I work on Mac OS (not OS X for a while). I;ve heard there is some other operating system on other laptops but I'm not familiar with it ;-). Cap One and my other software keeps up pretty well with Mac OS changes - and my printer drivers don't even need updating after an OS update any more (or rarely).

cengiz ozgok - good. Glad to know it works for you. But DaVinci Resolve was just a random app I included in the list (though I do have it). The point is needing to be sure that everything you rely on will still work if you update your MacOS.
