capture one 23 (<16.2) support deprecated for Sonoma 14.1? + upgrade advice

Running Capture One 23 (Max eligible version: 16.2), and I'm suddenly unable to open the app. When I click on it, I see the startup loading box, and then I get the spinning wheel of death and have to force quit.

According to the docs, Capture One 16.2 aka 23's max supported OS is Sonoma 14.0, @devs any idea if support for 14.1 will be introduced and when? Would prefer not to pay for a new perpetual license for the new OS, although I might have to if the bug is not resolved soon.

Also -- does anyone know when the next version comes out? Trying to decide if it's worth it to buy the new perpetual license for 300 - 40% or pay monthly if a new version is coming soon. Tried to search for a roadmap but no luck. 

Finally, does anyone know if CO is backwards and/or forwards compatible? Assuming forwards, not sure about backwards. Will help in my decision to upgrade or not.
