How to organise my hard drive folders

I have a hard drive organized with files for my photography. Many photos need to be edited, so I want to connect this to Capture One. Can you help me make this easy and simple?

In Lightroom, I used to create a catalog on my hard drive and connect this photo folder to it. Any new folders with photos I added would automatically become part of this catalog once I synchronized it. I would love to do the same with Capture One.

Can I do the same with Capture One, or is there another way? Will this take up a lot of space on my hard drive? I need to keep both the photos and the catalog on the same hard drive so I can take it around and open it from any Capture One on any computer.
