Yes. That is true. Given how long it's been since they released a major paid version update I would consider either waiting to upgrade, or getting a subscription. The subscription is my own preference as I always have access to the latest fixes and features and supported cameras.

Thanks, I'll leave it for a while. The jpegs are OK anyway!

    I have the same problem.

I don't usually complain about anything, but this feels like an artificial obstacle introduced purely for the sake of juicing the customer (and for the wrong reason). Strategically, this is such a incorrect step for them to go with - I am now forced to use Lightroom for this camera to process raws (which I am paying anyway because of the Photoshop). They are risking that I will just move forward with Lightroom for the rest of my workflow as well instead of me selecting to upgrade C1 when I feel the value is right (= because of new features).

Bad strategy and great way to anger (until now) satisfied customers. It especially feels like a slap in the face if you upgraded to the perpetual license recently.

Completely agree. I’m on the 3 months free trial ATM but will probably move over to Lightroom when that finishes.

I’m also disappointed! I purchased the perpetual license because I don’t edit photos that often. Now I’ve bought a new camera and can’t open the RAW files. A subscription or paying for another perpetual license isn’t worth it for me—especially since I’d rather switch to Lightroom, which is cheaper with an annual plan and offers more convenience.

It’s a real shame because I was actually happy with Capture One as a perpetual license.
