Color heavy shift towards cyano when importing DNG files created by DJI Mini 4 Pro
Hi, lately I am exepriencing a wierd behavior by C1.
Any DNG file created by the DJI Mini 4 Pro have are displayed with a strong and wrong cyano dominance.
The same images are instead correctly displayed by both Adobe Lightroom and even by MS Foto viewer.
Please see attached comparison.
This issue makes the post production on C1 much longer and tedious.
No post has been applied to any of the images, just simple display from the raw file.
What could be the reason?
Thank you for any advice

Hi Piero,
Sounds frustrating, especially since the same DNG files display correctly in Adobe Lightroom and MS Foto Viewer.
This issue might be related to how Capture One handles color profiles and DNG files. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve it:
-
Update Capture One: Ensure you're using the latest version of Capture One, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements.
-
Check Color Profiles: Verify that the color profile used by Capture One matches the one used by the DJI Mini 4 Pro. You can try resetting the color profile settings in Capture One to see if that helps.
-
Convert DNG Files: Use the Adobe DNG Converter to convert your DNG files with custom DNG compatibility set to Linear (demosaiced). This might help resolve the color shift issue.

Thank you for your suggestion, using Adobe DNG converter did the magic, not 100% satisfied but much better then what C1 does.
However, this is ad added step to the workflow which I would like to avoid and expect that C1 PRO would not force me or any using these type of files to do.Trying to find wich color profile uses DJI Mini 4 Pro is quite impossible, at least I couldn't find any info on it.
The official manual of over 116 pages does not mention enywhere the used color profile.
Thank you any way for your useful reply, hope this "bug" will be addressed to the developers.Drone photography IS now an essential part of a professional photographer activity everywhere.

DJI files are not officially supported.
You could try color correcting these files using the RGB tabs in the Curves tool and use the "..." menu there to save a preset you can apply by default.

Thank you Walter,
I new it but what I was surprised by was the fact that suddently the same files were rendered differntly from past version of C1.
Hope that will soon be supported anyway :)

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for C1 to support DJI (or anyone else's) DNG files. I asked about this in relation to DXO output about a year ago and it seemed like a known problem then. Why is is that I can open a DJI Mini 4 Pro DNG file in Lightroom 5.7.1 or Photoshop CS5 (15 year old products) and have them render correctly, whereas C1 cannot? It's a joke, and highlights the fact that C1 are very unlikely to make any effort to support the DNG file format and DJI files in particular. I have tried creating C1 presets for light fall off, fixing colour shifts, lack of contrast etc, but they don't seem to apply consistently. My workflow is instead DXO PureRAW direct to Photoshop CS5. C1 isn't worth the hassle with DJI files in my opinion, which is really disappointing.
