Locate missing images in Library (found via Smart Album)

I have a smart album looking for photos from, say, August 2014.

My catalog returns a whole bunch of photos, but they are all "missing". I assume it's because the "2014/August" folder might have been moved to a different location over the years.

Note that I can only easily find them with smart albums.

Now, since these are quite a few pictures, I am trying to understand how I can resync them without manually locating them one by one.

I have tried manually re-importing the "2014/August" folder, but this just resulted in duplicates (so now I have both the missing ones in the catalog, with the edits, and the new ones without edits).
