AI Masking Issues on macOS 15.4 & 15.5? Here’s What to Do
If you're running Capture One on an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 15.4 or 15.5 and experiencing problems with AI Masking, here's what’s going on—and how to fix it.
Apple made changes in these macOS versions that affect how the Neural Engine works. This has caused issues when Capture One uses it for AI Masking.
Good news: Starting with Capture One Pro 16.6, AI Masking no longer uses the Neural Engine. That change avoids the issue entirely.
Still on an earlier version?
You can work around the issue by switching AI processing to your GPU + CPU:
-
Go to Capture One > Settings > General
-
Under Hardware Acceleration, find AI
-
Change it to GPU + CPU
That should restore expected performance. We’re continuing to monitor Apple’s updates and will keep improving compatibility. Let us know if you run into any trouble—we’re here to help.
