Printing with Canon Print Studio Pro
So, how do you download Print Studio Pro? The Canon web site shows screen shots of it, but when you go to any supported printer page (e.g., the 1000 pro) to download it, it is not listed with the other software. Same thing happens if you click on "get the plugin." I presume, it only works with certain Canon Printers, but Pro 1000 is one of them.
One of the forum members on the Windows forum supplied a link to a Taiwan Canon site, but it seems odd that you can't navigate to it on the Canon USA site.
Note: I am using a Mac with Catalina, but I could not find it when selecting for Windows OS, either.

Hey Jerry.
From what I have seen, at the present time, Print Studio Pro has not been updated to be supported in MacOS Catalina. On the Canon USA website, if you choose Mohave (10.14) you will see PSP listed. However, if you download it, it may or may not work in Catalina. I'm lucky, in that I had PSP running in Mohave, and when I updated to Catalina, at least the LR Plug-in continues to work for me.
In reading the various Canon printer forums, I am not able to see an indication of an expected release of the Catalina compatible PSP.

Thanks for the info. Interesting to see a company like Canon can't keep up with MacOS updates. I downloaded it using your suggestion and it installs as a DPP plugin. I can't test it, because I don't have a compatible Canon printer, but at least I can use it when I get the printer.

I find the Canon Professional Print and Layout app to work far better then Print Studio Pro.

I have moved on to OS 11 (Big Sur) and the current release of DPP4, which has a plugin for Print Studio Pro. I also now have a Pixma Pro 100 printer. Unfortunately, I could not find Canon Professional Print and Layout for the Pro 100 because it appears to be for the ImagePrograf Pro Series printers.Too bad, it seems like a really excellent printing solution.
On the bright side, printing from Capture One 20 is working quite well for me with the Pro 100. While, it is not archival, jammed nozzles are less of a problem than with pigment inks and more suitable for my relatively low volume of printing. My iMac Pro display is calibrated and the color match between the display and the printed copy is excellent. Capture One and the Pro 100 printing has been the most trouble free printing I have had and that includes previous experience with my old Epson and HP pigment printers.

I have been trying to get my prints to match monitor. I have an IMac Retina calibrated with Spyder Pro. Use Red River UltraPro Satin paper. Prints look ok but do not match Capture One display. I have double checked color profiles, etc etc. Any tips you have would be appreciated. Thanks!0 -
Jeff,
I am just using the profiles provided by Red River when using their paper and those by Canon when using their paper. Assuming you have the right profile selected, you should get accurate color. as on the display. I also calibrated with the Spyder Pro and it seems to give good, although not perfect results. The biggest problem I have is needing to boost brightness some beyond what the preview shows.
Others who print more frequently with the Canon 100 may have better suggestions.

Thanks Jerry, I will double check settings again and make sure it’s using the correct profile. One of the issues is brightness like you said. So I’ll just boost it a bit before printing. Thanks again!

- It seems the CPPL does not work on Pro-100 printer. The stand alone version of that on the 100 would have been THE way to go too. Canon is blowing it!
- “While, it is not archival” It being the Pro-100. The OEM inks have been improved better and if you spray a print and cover with UV glass and keep out of direct sun, 70+ years is possible. In storage and dark, 200+ years is possible. I think most people would call this “archival” but, there is this obsession with pigment being archival, which it is. But this does not mean prints from a Pro-100 cannot be if you print to glossy Canon paper with Canon inks, spay, and display as above.0
