Creating new catalog from old catalog

The error is that you created a new catalog. Let me explain.

The old catalog contains all the adjustments in its database. The adjustments are not stored with the images if that is what you might think. Now you probably understand that when you create a new catalog, you lose all adjustments.

What you could do (and should have done) is reorganize your image folder structure from your old catalog. This will assure you that you retain all adjustments.

Let us know if you need assistance with that procedure. Spoiler: start with a database backup and verify your catalog database.

    Hi Paul

I am aware that adjustments are not stored with the images but I assumed C1 would be able to sort that out, clearly not.

I did consider reorganizing inside the original catalog but that would be rather tedious given I have quite a lot of images all in day folders. I will have to go through each day folder and drag the images up a level. Oh well, if that's what it takes then perhaps I should get on with it.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

It's easier than that. Let's say you want to move all the images in May 2019 into the May folder, from 1 May, 2 May, 3 May etc.

Select the All Images collection. Go to the filters tool, and filter by date to select al the May 2019 images. Drag and drop them to the May 2019 folder.

Great minds think alike! I was just about to try that.

    Thanks again.

For some reason it won't let me drag into the month folder, any month folder for that matter. I can drag to the year folder or another day folder in a different month but not into any month folder. Very strange.

Are you dragging into the month folder on the Folders section o the library tool, or into some month collection in the user collections? (I'd hope the former would work.)

Definitely using the Folders section. I have even tried dragging directly from the day folder into the month folder to no avail. By that I mean not using the search result. All folder permissions look correct too.

Have you specifically added the month folder to the catalog? It may be that it just shows up in the Library tool because it is the parent of subfolders that you have added. (That might be nonsense, but perhaps worth trying to add it?)

Well done that man, have a coconut! Or something else to your liking.

Interestingly the month folder was created automatically as part of the original import process so quite why it wasn't recognised I don't know

    Many thanks

    Glad that helped!
