Why the imported photos are shown at "custom" white balance?

A strange thing started happening - I import photos and they show strange colours, when I look at white balance, it is set to "custom" (what is it ??) , when I switch to "shot" (for each separate photo), they look again normal. Sometimes just few are set to custom. How to stop this and let everything be in "shot" mode ?

  Are you applying a preset or style as part of your import process?
  
  (Whether intentionally or, possibly, without realising that that is happening....)

  No, I am not aware of anything like that and never set such thing. Where can I see this and cancel it ?

  There is an option to apply styles/presets on import.
  
  See the Adjustments tool section of the Import Images screen.
  
  If there is nothing obvious there and since you mention that not all images are affected I think the next thing to do is identify what is common to the affected images but different to the unaffected images.
  
  You could also check to see if any Presets are defined in your User Presets and Styles libraries.
  
  If there is nothing there than I think we may need to consider a lot more detail about the source images - what camera, what are the settings in Base Characteristics and possibly much more after that.
  
  Also, are you sure this is entirely related to the import process and that there is no possibility that some sort of edit activity immediately after the import has adjusted the WB? (Is it safe to assume that these are images being imported from a camera/memory card rather than form a previous editing application?)

  In that case I think you need to luck out with another Canon 5D4 user who has observed the same thing happening OR, probably better, create a Support Case and ask the Capture One Support Team to suggest some solutions.
  
  I could make some guesses but realistically without access to a whole lot of images and their settings I would be wasting your time as well as mine.
  
  I assume these are all RAW images?
  
  What does the Camera think about the WB profile?
  
  Or the Canon software - how does that interpret the WB setting?
  
  Might it be that there is a Canon default WB assessment value that does not match any defined "standard" values for Canon files in C1?

  ETA. "Shot" mode is net necessarily meaningful if the shot values are not interpretable as far as C1 is concerned.
  
  In part this is why I think you may need to enlist the help of Capture One Support.
