Load a RAW file from a folder, proccess, save on another
Hi! I have over 120,000 image files (RAW, TIFF and JPG), all neatly renamed ( based in camera used, date taken and file number ) and arranged in a very comprehensive ( for me, at least ) directory trees structure. I'm new in CO and this Forum, and work in Windows 10, mainly with Photoshop ( since version 2.5, now with CS6 Ext. ) and SilkypixPro6 ( since v. Studio 3 ). I usually try other new image editing software, but none up to now has been any better for RAW conversion, noise control and initial color adjustments than Silkypix.
AMOF I extensively tried Lightroom, but its RAW converter, colors and noise control did not add anything to what I already have ( for my taste ). Besides, it demands a rather complex workflow with its extensive filling system ( import to catalogs, etc. ) which I really don't need.
Now trying CO v.9, I came to really like its excellent tools for RAW conversion, noise and color rendering, enough to replace SilkypixPro!
Unfortunately for me, CO demands a workflow similar to Lightroom ( even more demanding ).
Is there a way to bypass the "import file" and not create a "Catalog" and/or "Session" folder and simply "Open" a file and "Save" it after processing in a subfolder of the original one? I've been testing CO following the cumbersome "Import" and "Export" procedures and later deleting the created folders ( which take quite some disk space ), a lot of work!
I'll appreciate all help I can get! Thanks

You can create a simple "session", and then ignore it 😊. It doesn't really matter were you locate the session folder, because you will only use it to launch C1P.
In the Library tab/tool, simply ignore the session folders and open the System folders (names might be different, I'm not on a computer with C1P right now). Then, open the folder structure where you keep your images and you will see that C1P shows the images in it's browser.
You're now using C1P as a browser/editor. Select the image you want to edit and go for it!
The drawback is that C1P will create a Capture One folder in each folder you visit. AFAIK, this is were it stores the thumbnails of the images in that folder, and the adjustments you've made to the images. If you would delete this folder in the Explorer, you would have deleted the adjustments as well. So don't do that.
Check out PhaseOne's Youtube channel, especially the webinars. I believe that there is a webinar where this was (briefly) discussed. Or search this forum for "browse session" or something like that.

💡 😄 Thanks, Peter, that worked! When I finished editing, I applied all "variants", used "Export variants", defined the folder and file name change C1p saved tiff file of the edited image. I then actually could delete the folders created by C1 since the final saved file had all changes in it! Anyway, I still have a lot of learning to do...! 😄 0
