If you wish to stay with the structure you have used previously then a C1 Session created for each year (to match what you already do) would work well.

Import for the "Capture" folder because that is the equivalent of what you do now and it is all set up for you.

On import you can create subfolders (if you wish) and by using the Token based Naming system for the Subfolders you can create the subfolder naming system you have been using.

(You can also name the files on import).

When processing files for output you can specify where the files are to be sent and automatically create sub folders - by specifying a name or by a token based naming system.

C1 automatically creates a default "Output" subfolder for the Session and in that you could create subfolders for the dates that match the import folder dates. Personally I would do that and group all of the outputs but it you wish control the outputs to be in a subfolder under the Original Files you could do that as well.

You can copy the entire session to your external disk by copying the top level folder.

Sync on a weekly basis should also work assuming your backup software can be set to your requirements.

At the end of the year the entire session should be on your external drive via the copies so at the right time you could delete it from the SSD. (I would, however , make sure I had at least one other backup somewhere probably NOT in your home or office.)

Start a new session for the new year.

There are other options that you will discover over time but this allows you to start using C1 in the way you are used to working.

    Excellent.

Take some time to look at each part of the process and the features and functions available.

There is some flexibility (provided to suit the many and varied needs of so many people) and so it can look a bit complicated at first. But once you see how it can work for your specific needs you should find it very easy to set up and work with. You may also find further refinements to your workflow needs as you become used to what is available.

There are a few of us in the forum who use sessions in much the same way that you can use them for your needs so any question you may have are likely to result in a response within a reasonable amount of time.
