Desperately slow photos import from A7 camera

It often take ages before C1 is able to import few photos from Sony A7 camera (via USB-C cable to MacBook). I select for example 50 photos to import ... First there is a table "deciding which photos to import" that is there for maybe 2 minutes. And then "importing 50 photos" ... 15 minutes (!!) while importing one photo takes maybe 30-60 seconds, towards the end it becomes slightly faster.

If I transfer the photos directly to the computer, it would take less than one minute.

Really weird and annoying ...

  The connection with the A7 is probably very slow. I suggest using a card reader.

  Have you checked the Exclude Duplicates option? That can slow things down considerably. If you want to not delete things from the camera from last time, a better way of narrowing down the ones to import this time is to use a filter in the import dialog box. Click the ... in the Search tool at the top right of the import dialog box and narrow it down to the date or dates that you want.

  It is not ... direct transfer to the computer is very fast ... and it used to be quite normal to C1 too ... before V12
