Set the icc profile and create a style, just as for any other adjustment.

Could you expand on "set the icc profile"? I know there's a way to have the icc profile and the costyle file in the same X:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\Styles50\PACK folder. I just haven't sussed it all out.

Set the ICC profile in the Base Characteristics tool and save a style. The style is automatically saved in the right folder ending with ...\Styles50. You do not have to worry about that.

So in the interest of narrowing down my problem. I dropped my externally created icc profiles and instead I've verified that I can create a custom ICC profile from within Capture One and in fact create a costyle file and it duplicates the icc file there.
After that it was a matter of discovering why the icc profile I was using wasn't working, after a bit of research and trial and error I was able to determine the icc profile needed to be set as input and not display during creation of the icc file. I am now able to create icc profiles as I desire and create styles with them.

I've run into a significant issue where .costyle files created from icc within C1 are not usable on another platform. For example, creating costyle on windows makes files which are unusable on osx... does anyone know anything about this?

I do know that triple-posting the same message on three threads is frowned upon...

I hear you, Keith. I've been participating in each of those threads and my question was relevant to each, with different people participating in each as well.

Still struggling with this issue too, as it appears that icc based costyles are not cross-platform. When you compound that with not being able to apply amounts to LUT based looks, the process for creating costyle packages is absolutely miserable.

Adobe has solved this rather elegantly and i hope the Capture devs follow suit.

Additional note: If you want to export a 3DLut from 3D Lut Creator, that is, convert it into an ICC/costyle file format for Capture One, be aware that the exported style may turn out to be unusable. The solution is to rename the exported ICC file associated with the costyle file. For example, rename it as: Csirke.costyle and Csirke.Csirke.icc (instead of Csirke.icc).
