Moving CO20 images and catalog to a NAS

I have quickly outgrown my dedicated 1TB drive for my images and the Capture One database. (Let's call the old 1TB drive "OLD.") I have purchased a Synology network attached server (NAS), and I want to move images and the CO20 database to the NAS. (Let's call the NAS drive "NEW.")

The objective is to move all images and CO20 database and related folders from OLD to NEW, and have it work without problems. So, I'm seeking advice on the forum because a) I don't want to re-target every moved image when I reopen CO20, and b) worse, I don't want to screw this up.

(And yes, I have backups of everything.)

I have copied:

1. All images
2. CO20 folders (Adjustments, Cache, Originals, Web Contact Sheet)
3. and the my.cocatalogdb file

... from drive OLD to drive NEW, while retaining the original folder structure.

If I double-click on my.cocatalogdb, which is now on the NAS, will that open CO20 and the database, such that my life's work will be intact?

If the above is not the optimal process, please recommend a better solution.

  Is the catalog a MANAGED or a REFERENCED catalog? Or a mix of the two options?
  
  How did you move the field? Using C1 or Using Windows?

  I moved the catalog and the image folders from OLD drive to NEW drive via Windows (not Capture One). But again, I haven't tried to open in CO20 yet. Based on your questions, it appears that the movement can and should be done from inside CO20. And that obviously would keep all links intact. Yes?
  
  Perhaps you can point me to a 'how to' video or text.
  
  Or, if there is another better approach, please advise.

  My advice would be to keep the catalog on the internal drive and place the images on the NAS. Network connections have a characteristic called latency and the database of your catalog is not built to handle latency. Other then that, it unnecessarily slows down your Capture One experience plus you do not have access to your images when the you are disconnected from your NAS.
  
  I strongly prefer to copy, not move, images with File Explorer to the new location, instead of from Capture One and only do the relocate in Capture One. Faster and less errors, something most people like.

  Thank you. Is it possible for Capture One 20 to find and re-link all images automatically? Or do I need to re-link each image 1x1?

  You can do it per folder or parent folder. Go to the Library tool, Folders section, right-click on the parent folder and choose Locate.

  Right, I see that works for an entire folder.
  
  A sincere thank you for your advice on this. I have kept the catalog on it's original drive, and successfully moved the images to the NAS.
