Sort by Recent activity should be the default

Also it keeps resetting to sort by newest post whenever you go to a different forum section.

  Agreed.

  Or rather that the user's most recent selection should be sticky OR users should be able to set their own defaults (but can that work across different access devices?)

  For now I've "solved" putting this url on my bookmarks

  This way all posts from all sections are mixed, but you can bookmark every single section like this
