To add tools to empty layer
ImplementedHi.
First an example.
Wee see there is some color grading on specific layer.
We have range of tools that can do specific effect (levels, curves, color balance, color editor, white balance).
Guess - what tool was used.
My idea is to first add "empty" layer and than add tools to this layer to see only these needed tools.

I think you would have to explain in a bit more detail how that one would work.

If I'm reading it correctly, I think functionally it would be equivalent to the workspace changing when a layer is selected, to reflect only the tools used on that particular layer.
It's an interesting idea, but only beneficial once the tools are in place. It would add complexity when wanting to make changes with tools that are not yet assigned to the layer, as an interaction model would have to exist for you to select tools to add to the layer, adding steps that otherwise are not necessary. Or, have a checkbox or setting in the layers palette to only show active tools?
Perhaps a better in-between solution would be to somehow highlight tools that are active on any given layer?
I totally agree that something along these lines would help with usability, as I myself often struggle to figure out what specifically any given layer is doing. I am good about layer naming, and sometimes only use one tool per layer specifically for the ability to know what does what down the road, but none of those are really good solutions.

I agree with Darek in that I have a need to easily identify used tools in a layer. However I share your opinion Seb, a checkbox to show only the used / changed tools, or hightlight those is way better. I have requested this too. A need to explicitly add those which I want to use is a hurdle I do not like.

Sometimes is big guessing "how I did this" ?
And big revealing all Tools (especially color tools), expanding and collapsing only to know, what tools was used.
OK.

Hi Darek,
Thank you for this post.
I have forwarded your request on the ability to have a list of tools that were used on a Layer and/or to have an indication mark next to the tool whether it was used on a Layer on not.
