    Mark,

Have you by any chance been running with more than one session/catalogue open at the same time?

I sometimes see strange results after that especially if inadvertently forgetting to complete an edit of some sort in one session before attempting something similar in another.

    Closing a restarting usually works.

Thanks SFA but tried and no improvement. I used to use the tool fine, and one day it stopped working, very frustrating.

    Most odd.

    Which release version?

    Mac?

    Session or catalogue?

Does the gradient button just not work at all, ever, or does it only not work when trying to change for an existing layer (which is how I originally read the description.)

Also, do the keyboard shortcuts work? L for gradient, B for paint brush, E for eraser.

Isn't it G for the gradient?

L is for Linear Gradient. G displays/hides the grid view...unless you’ve edited your keywords.

edit - I meant ‘edited your keyboard shortcuts’.

Absolutely brilliant, using keyboard shortcuts works. The button still doesn't but I can work around that.

Many thanks all for your contributions, really appreciated.

I hope you're all safe and well.

@Michael - maybe I had changed them and have forgotten, or it's a hangover from the old shortcut for the old style gradient in previous versions. Sorry!

    Ian,

I think the option was split when the radial gradient option was introduced.

    Mark,

Sounds like the sort of thing a re-boot (or two) might sort out but I would guess you may have tried that already?

Try a different Workspace to see if that changes anything?

I'm also wondering about process engine version maybe - if you are working on an older image.

Something along those lines perhaps - though why the shortcuts should work is not necessarily answered by that suggestion.

Yes, tried a reboot, and changing workspaces.

I'm on C1 10 as I'm working on an older Mac Pro. It's full of RAM, SSDs and works well, but isn't new enough for a newer OS capable of C1 20. I priced up a new Mac Pro but when I got to £54000 GBP plus monitors I had second thoughts!!

I'm happy to work with the keyboard shortcuts.

    Thanks again all.
