Importing and new albums in sessions
I understand that this action of the C1 may be baked in to the software.
So is there anyway to not have C1 create a "new" album every time you import images from a SD card in to the same folder? My images are referenced on external drives,
Create a session -> import images -> C1 creates a "new" album -> I delete album-> then edit images in current session as normal
The album is not really a big deal just a slight inconvenience and some I lived with for a few version in sessions.
TIA

The Album you mention is only a convenience for checking the latest additions or, for some people's needs, something they might want to keep.
If gives you a grouped import and so a pre-selected basis for checking that all is correct, adding metadata to the new images, using the collection for culling just the latest imported images, etc.
Also quite useful as a collection if, for example, you have used the import process to distribute the images into new or existing folders and perhaps rename things according to a token system on the fly.
If you don't do any of that and simply save the images to a common folder with the names allocated by the camera AND if that folder is already known to your Session as a "favourite" you don't need to import at all. Just read the folder and the new files will be found.
In fact is doesn't have to be a favourite but based on what you described I suspect you would already be benefiting from using the session "favourites" folder facility.
You won't get the virtual album if you don't use the Import process.
HTH.

I do use C1's import process so I guess it will have to live it with for now because keywords, formats separated, file name at time and backup are created upon import.
Used to do the same thing using Photo Mechanic then reference C1 to folder location. I find it easier to do everything in one place.
Thanks Grant for help!
