Grayscale changed to RGB - How to Recognize?
So I've learned I cannot edit grayscale images.
But when I externally convert an image from grayscale to RGB, I still cannot edit it when back in C1:
How do I force Capture One to recognize my conversion of the image format to RGB?
I hope there is an easier way than having to delete the image and re-import the edited (now-RGB) image!

I think Image -> Load Metadata works. It's been a while so my memory may well be incorrect.

I thought that might do it too. But was afraid that would mess up the actual meta data (eg IPTC fields).
I say that because this image was imported from Lightroom way back, so it has a sidecar XMP file.
My preferences include a CHECK for Prefer sidecar XMP over Embedded Metadata (and NO check for Prefer Embedded XMP over Embedded IPTC).
But I notice that XMP file has a modification date of 2012, so I think I can assume whatever it says is already inside Capture One from the original import!
TL;DR ... I will give your idea a try.

Thanks Marco but unfortunately Image -> Load Metadata does NOT do the trick.
Other ideas anyone?

Hi Colin,
I just had the problem this afternoon. I had to move the images to trash, then empty trash BUT not deleting from disk but only from catalog. For security, I made a copy of the images elsewhere. And then I had to reimport them.... Tricky and tedious, indeed.

Thanks Robert. Would be nice if there were an easier way though!
I will try that, sounds like an approach that should work (and will from your experience!).

I really don't know if this will work, but you could try synchronising the folder?
Good luck with this. I find it frustrating that we have to go through this round-tripping with greyscale images. Surely it should be possible for C1 to simply convert the file?

Shane - Good idea...tried it, but unfortunately that did not work.
So, had to resort to the more tedious process Robert described ... that worked!
Thanks,
Colin
