Greetings- 1) RASTERIZE vs. ERASE 2) specific tool and tools tab question.
Greeting Capture One community, I would appreciate it if anyone has useful input on these topics.
I just started using this amazing photo editing software and on the 2nd day of my 30 day trial.
Note: using it on a Mac
1) What is the relation between the rasterize and erase tool with regard to masks and removing them partially.
2) Is there a Capture One equivalent of Solo Mode like in Lightroom where only one tool menu drop down stays open at a time. Moreover, for those who have not used Lightroom, in Solo Mode, only one drop down editing tool can be kept open in any tool tab at any given time. More specifically, clicking on a tool in the same tool tab will close the previously open drop down tool to keep the work space from getting cluttered.

Hi,
1) Rasterize means that you transform into pixels your RAW image. Erase means that you erase a part of your mask. So, there is no relation at all between the two terms. One is a transformation, the other is a tool.
2) No, there is no "solo mode" in Capture One, but you can customise your tools in a tool tab, separating them into pinned and scrollable areas.

When you create a Linear Gradient Mask (L) or a Radial Gradient Mask (T) you may modify it with Opacity and use the Luma Range tool. You can continue to modify it in these ways as long as it is at gradient mask. If you want to use the brush or eraser tool to modify parts of it you must Rasterize it. After that it is a standard mask. I normally create a variant before rasterizing a gradient mask. Other than the undo command there is no way back. Sometimes I do want to go back to the gradient.
You can also create custom keystrokes for Rasterize and Luma range and so many other commands that will let you fly through your editing incredibly fast if you need that.
Capture One does not have the LR feature you speak of. However, you can pin a tool, create a floating tool, create a custom tool tab and a custom workspace. Many more options available to you for creating a workflow that is, I feel, far more productive that just having one tool open at a time.
Good luck and glad you are amazed with Capture One.
