(Proof) Border Size in Viewer misbehaves

when I select an image from the browser and switch to the viewer neither the actual border nor proof -border size is used, rather the image is displayed full size. Only after clicking on proof it it adjusteted properly into the viewer...mistake by me or any workaround? Annoying that a new release destabilized otherwise stable functions...
