Importing a Capture One catalogue from a MacBook

I am experiencing issues trying to import a Capture One Catalogue (and the associated photos) from my MacBook Air into a Catalogue that resides on my iMac. If I use the File/ Import Catalogue/ Capture One Catalogue process I get the following error message: "If the file is on an external disk or network drive, make sure it is connected and online in order to retry importing this file."

I presume that the issue is that Capture One cannot copy/ import over a wifi network. Is this correct and is the only solution to copy the images and MacBook-based catalogue onto a remote drive and connect it physically to the iMac? This seems like an overly complex process if correct.

I am trying out a workflow that has been suggested by Capture One support which involves me moving/ copying images, their adjustments, keywords, ratings etc from my MacBook into my main, master catalogue on my iMac. This represents how I usually work particularly when returning from holiday with adjusted photos or a remote photo shoot, where the photos are stored on my MacBook Air. All of the images that reside on the iMac and MacBook are referenced and do not live inside the catalogues. Both versions of Capture One are the same - Capture One 20 Pro.

Can you suggest why this process is not working for me and whether there are any other workflows that I could try?
