Review File Size in Library

Hi, I'm using C1 as my base archiving database and Raw converter. Part of my process requires the review of files and to distinguish between layered and unlayered PSD files which I've archived. A qucik way to distinguish is to look at the file size. But apparently it is impossible to see how large a file is unless you "view the file in Finder" ... which is terribly inconvenient. I checked all tabs and view options... Am I missing something?

Please advise.

    Hi Wolf,

    You are right. This is a weak point of Capture One, together with having a reliable value of the size (in MB) of the image when exporting with the Output tool tab.

    It seems amazing that with all the info displayed in IPTC panel, some of it very exotic, programmers missed the the file size. Something that so basic yet very important for many different reasons.

    I can not remember seeing a file size element in the IPTC specification, but if you say it is there, could you please point me to it? The 2019 version of the spec is here: https://iptc.org/standards/photo-metadata/iptc-standard/

    Dear OddS.

    It isn't about semantics, it is about having the file size shown in the metadata panel (sorry for using an ambiguous description), just like about any other software offering functionality of a catalogue.

    Odds — I agree with Peter... this isn't about semantics and "where" to add this information. Maybe there needs to be a new tool called "file information". who cares! It's about having access to something as basic as looking up file size ...

    And may I add: changing the date of the photograph is yet another one of those things you can't do. While I accept the response by the C1 folks that C1 will not write to the original RAW file, C1 is still being sold as a tool with a database function. So being able to tell the software/database that the image was taken at a different date & time and then changing the date on the exported TIF/PSD/JPG would be quite "basic" for a database. GPS is another one that is a bit complicated to change, and which could be simplified / integrated with map apps. Although I consider GPS not as important - I imagine those sorts of development would be low hanging fruits many people care about and actually would help in sales/marketing of the tool.

    Why blame those who maintain the IPTC panel for not including non-IPTC info? May I suggest you file a request for a file information panel?

    Honestly I have no idea who you are or who you think you are. I‘m just someone who paid for the software and is disappointed that I cannot read out the information of the file or change the date and added it in the closest forum discussion I could find.

    I‘m not a Capture One employee or engineer whose job it is to redirect customer complaints or requests. My job is to please my clients.

    What audacity! I hope you have nothing to do with C1 because that would be ridiculous customer service.

    I believe you are just frustrated because C1 does not meet your expectations.  Why project frustration with C1 on fellow users? Better, file a request for things you want the C1 crew to change.

    You are taking a simile to illogical extremes.  I'm going to rephrase the comment you seem to have taken exception to.

    "Hey, Capture One... you go into great detail with the IPTC portion of the Metadata Tool but left off something as basic as file size which would naturally fit in the Basic portion of that tool, along with File name, date, etc."

    Peter was using IPTC as a comparison of how some info is presented in excruciating detail while other info is ignored.   The actual request was for file size some someplace in the Metadata tool, not changes to the IPTC section of that tool.

    That's not a bad request, IMHO.   But it needs to be submitted to Capture One (the Submit a Request button) as this is a user-to-user forum.
