Color Editor not respecting Local Adjustment Mask
The colors selected by the Advanced and Skin Tone Color Editors are not restricted to the mask area applied to the same layer, as you would expect. To be clear, here are the steps I take.
1. Make a new, empty adjustment layer.
2. Using a Brush, create a Mask over part of the image.
3. Using either the Advanced or Skin Tone Color Editor, select a color in the masked area.
4. Use View Selected Color range or change a parameter and you'll see that areas outside the Mask are effected.

Hi David,
When I want to process a selected colour with a mask, I create a new mask straight from the color editor. Did you try this way ?
And I've tried the way you proceed, and it works fine with me (MacBook Pro late 2013, Mojave 10.14.6, Capture One 20.1).

Thank you, Robert, for your response. It turns out that I was mistaken. This is the expected behavior of the View Selected Color Range function; it will desaturate all areas of the preview that do not contain a color within the wedge. This preview is not limited to the area within the mask, however the adjustments applied within the Color Editor will be limited to the Masked region.
