5D support: Do you remeber how long 20D support took for CO?
I can't remember the exact dates, but didn't the 20D support take many months? We kept getting the explanation that the programmers were redoing the back end to make it MUCH easier to add new camera support in the future. So we were told that even though the 20D support was taking forever, it would be worth the wait so that future cameras could be added much more quickly...
So, I hope they don't come up with a different excuse for the 5D/MKIIN support.

There were no excuses then, and you won't get any now. Just Facts.

Here are exact dates:
20D announced August 19, 2004______Capture One: The Mac version is launced November 30, 2004 and the Windows version is launched January 17, 2005.
And here is the best information currently available... It is our plan to support the two new Canons in Q4, 2005. Likely November.
Canon 5D was announced August 22, 2005
It appears the Track Record will be consistent... We will of course have to wait and see the exact release date of the next update with support for 5D and 1D MkII N.

Maybe I am a bit confused here. Since the track record for the 20D was that the Windows version came out 60 days after the Mac version, then are we to expect a 60 day delay in the Window version on this next release? 0 -

This is what they said last time, and we didn't get it until Jan '05. This is why I have not raced out to get the 5D as I knew the LE update would be months away. Sad. How is it that RawShooter is able to get support for that camera? http://www.pixmantec.com/products/rawshooter.html

Just to be a further nuisance ...
I bought a 5D regardless and surprisngly the Canon supplied \"Digital Photo Professional\" software for dealing with their raw files from the 5D is quite good and backward compatible with their earlier raw file structures.
I have usually not even loaded up the software that comes with cameras as I don't want to fill up my computer with \"free\" cut-down promotional software (as it often is). However with nowhere else to go I tried the Canon supplied software and was pleasantly surprised.
I notice that on www.dpreview.com that there is a succession of other manufacturers releasing 5D support for their raw conversion product.
I am willing to be patient to a point but as time passes I am more and more inclined to desert the ship for other products.
I also have an Panasonic FZ30 that can capture raw files. I have heard that the Panasonic supplied software is not particularly good for raw manipulation but confess I have not yet tried it. Nor have I tried capturing raw files on the FZ30 as I have not yet used any of my prosumer cameras at this level. However the FZ30 is quite impressive even at jpg level so I will be giving it a try. Obviously I will have to break my rule and load the Panasonic software to do so and consume more of my hard-disk resouces with just another sofware interface to learn.
Naturally I would like to have one set of software that can convert a wide range of raw files and if Capture One Pro is going to concentrate on Phase One capture backs and high end DSLR's with a limited number of format conversions then so be it - you might be right out of my class.
I can understand that the FZ30 might be beneath the level you are willing to accommodate but I would have thought the 5D may have had some priority.
Perhaps, with some respect, and also with some ignorance of the problems involved, it might be possible to write some sort of separate file conversion module linkable to the main processing software rather than what appears to be hard-coding file conversion code into the main product?

I too have pestered the higher ups wanting RAW support for my FZ-30, and now the FZ-50 is starting to hit the market and still the requests fall on deaf ears at Phase One. Panasonic is the 4th most popular camera sold according to Dpreview.com only surpassed by Canon, Nikon and Sony, in that order. How Phase One can ignore such a market expansion is beyond me. I guess they don't need my $$$$$$$. 0 -
