Problem using two monitors

    James,

The base problem is that C1 has never been designed with the dual monitor configuration in mind (at least under Windows). This was just forgotten and the dual monitor Large Viewer workspace is not satisfactory. This problem has been discussed since years and Phase One never reacted. You can find information about possible workarounds mainly in these threads :

    (messages in the first page)

This screen capture'> shows you the only workspace (using the large viewer) that can be setup to provide "normal" behavior on a dual monitor configuration (although it also have some drawbacks explained in the threads mentioned above). This workspace allows you to have the main screen dedicated to viewing the image you are working on and all the tools + the browser on the secondary display. You can find it here :
I hope this can help solve your problem.

Thank you Samoreen. This definitely solves my problem. If PhaseOne isn't interested in supporting Windows users, I can't justify using their software. I have already found a software package that better suits my needs. I am not actually as interested in trying to learn yet another intense processing package as Capture One as I am having a professional tethering and storage program. I am quite content in using Photoshop to process my work, and the software I am purchasing is around $60 for 10 licenses. Saves me $240.

    Thanks again. James

    Hey NNN636611541737862501,
Could I ask what software you're going with? I too am looking for a tethering/storage solution.

I am trying out ControlMyNikon. So far it's been great, 14 day free trial. Both monitors function well with it. Yay!

    They also produce ControlMyCanon.

Thanks. I'll investigate. I started using double monitors several years ago and have come to depend heavily on that configuration, so much so that when I travel and am forced to use a laptop it feels somewhat crippling.

I don't understand the question, the problem. I have been working for years with personnalized dual monitors ( personnalized places for frequent used tools) without problems, on windows 10 - 16 Mo

I cannot see large images on my second monitor. That is the problem.

    Hi,

Under Windows, you can't have a workspace that allows you (like say, in Photoshop) to have the main window opened on the main display, showing the image you are working on full screen and to deport the browser and the various tool palettes on the secondary display. This is only possible by setting up an hybrid workspace with the C1 main window displayed on the secondary screen (as demonstrated above) that generates duplicated commands and inconsistencies, as I already explained multiple times.

In Photoshop, I only have the edited image + the various toolbars on the main screen and all tool palettes are installed on the secondary screen. This is logical. Usually, the main screen is a quality display and the secondary screen is only there to display various tools.

If you can do that with C1 under Windows, just show us, please.

I'm going on non understanding: Actually, I set up an hybrid workspace, but no duplicate tools, as you can move the tools in your choosen place. On the main sceen, I have the picture, and the brower on the second screen, and I registered this workspace. I found it again each time I open capture one.

Agreed, I don't see what the problem is.

The problem is that the browser will not function on the second screen, and I cannot shoot tetheres ans see large images, which was the main reason I wanted to try Capture1 out.. I suppose some people need to read this 10 or 20 times before they stop writing that they do not see the problem. Or they are trolling. Who knows.

Anyway, doesn't matter to me now, as I will not be using the software, so please feel free to stop replying.

    Thanks anyway.

I'm not sure whether I can detach the browser from the main C1 window to the other screen, but it doesn't make any difference to me. My better screen has the full screen preview ONLY, the second screen has the browser and the tools I use. That second screen also has the C1 menus. Surely that's what you want if you want only the preview to fill one screen?
