Feature Request: Copy Location Data
I was surprised that when selecting the Arrow to copy Adjustment from Variant, the location information is not copied. The reason this would be good is if you had some pictures that are missing the GPS tagging both "EXIF - GPS Latitude and Longitude."
So you could copy the location data from one picture and then Apply it to many photos. I hope PhaseOne is listening. I truly enjoy using this app over Lightroom!!
Thanks,
Russ

This is a forum for fellow users. If you want to make a feature request to Phase One you have to do it by means of the Support case system. Go to the Help menu in Capture One and click on Capture One Support.

Because there are so many possible sources for updating meta data I think you need to be careful with this aspect of mass updating. And the C1 approach seems to be careful.
In general if you want to copy metadata across images you have to specifically set the clipboard settings to use the fields you want. By default, as far as I can ascertain, metadata fields tend NOT to be included and that seems sensible to me.
So use the copy arrow. Open the clipboard, untick the fields you do not want to copy, tick those that you do, select the images you want the values copied to, make sure the "Edit all Variants" toggle control is set how you need it to be set and then apply the changes.
Alternatively make sure you have an image with the "Location" field already populated.
Open the Filters tool and make sure that the "Places" subset is available and open. (If not go to the "Show/HIde Filters" option and manage which fields are currently included in the filters tool. Pretty much any field can be included for filtering but as far as I know the core EXIF fields embedded in the original image cannot be changed using this method - only fields that are stored in the sidecar files can be edited.)
Once you have a field with the value you wish to share to other images you can simply select the image or images to which you want to add the value and drag over to the displayed field value in the Filter tool and the values will be copied. Note this will only amend one field at a time whereas the Clipboard copy and paste approach, once you have set the fields you wish to include/exclude, will update multiple fields in one pass.
Both approaches are useful to suit specific circumstances.
HTH.
