If I choose, for example, the Exposure tab and adjust the highlight slider, only the primary image (thick white border) visible on the screen is adjusted, not all the selected images. This applies to all other edits too.

Should all the selected images (thin white borders) not be given the same (in this case) Highlight adjustment?

Why is global adjustment working for, in my examples, Chromatic Aberration, Metadata and Orientation, but not Exposure edits?

The 'global' adjustments you mentioned are the exception to the rule. In general, any slider, drop-down item, checkbox or curve handle is applied to the primary variant only and can be (selectively) copied and applied to other selected items.

To help users understand this - as I acknowledge this is potentially confusing - I wrote a serie of tutorials on adjustments, which are listed here:

    Paul,

    Thanks for the reply.

    In that case, a suggested improvement (unless I'm missing something) might be the following;

When I highlight a primary image (thick white border) and a few other images to copy to (thin white borders) and then click on a "Copies settings to the adjustments clipboard" arrow, and choose Copy, the little window closes. I have to return to the arrow, click it again, and choose Apply.

It would be great if the window could be kept open, so that I can Copy and Apply with one click of the arrow.

    Thanks.

    Dinarius,

I assume you refer to the double arrow most tools have. What you describe is ready available when you select the "Apply" button instead of the "Copy" button in the dialog that opens from the double arrow.

The "Copy" button was designed to allow you to place the adjustments from the source image (primary) to the clipboard only, without having the need to apply it directly (you can select your target images later and apply adjustments stored on the clipboard).

    Ahah!

    So, just to be clear.

    1. Highlight the relevant files.

    2. Click on the relevant Tool's double arrow.

    3. Click Apply (without having first clicked Copy)

...and that Tool's settings to the Primary variant will now be applied to the other selected files.

    Correct?

    Thanks.

Yes, correct. And with Shift-click on double arrow you do the same but suppress the dialog, saving another click. Extremely fast editing!
