Why no free upgrade from C1P9(Sony) to C1P10(Sony). I bought the C1P9 on Sep-2016. 0 -
I seem to remember from previous upgrades that there was a way to update all of my catalogues in one go from V9 to V10.
I can't remember how to do it, do you?
Thanks0 -

Upgrade of catalog in the new version takes place when you open it the first time. That's all there is to it. Open each one once.0 -
I think I may have worded my query wrongly, my apologies.
you are correct in that when I first open a catalogue is asks me if I want to upgrade but once open any image I click on is showing (in the Base Charasteristics tab)that it's using the Capture One 9 engine.
I'm have to find all of my RAW images and select to convert them to the Capture One 10 engine.
I wish there was a way to automatically do this.
I apologise again for the confusion with my wording...

Richard,
I'm not sure that a mass update is a great idea. It's certainly not necessary - at least if one is running sessions.
Some images might look somewhat different once changed to the new engine. Others not too different at all.
I like to see what the effects might be but selecting a range of different types of content and processing and then, for each image I select, I create a clone variant and upgrade that to the new engine. I can then see the old and the new side by side and make a judgement.
I have a load of images that were processed in anything from 6 through to 9. If they have not been changed from 6 or 7 already I doubt there will be any urgent need to change them now. So I leave them as they are.
Each to their own approach of course!

Thank you Grant, good pointer there with regard to wether or not to change the Capture One engine. 0 -

To elaborate on choosing the Engine, I was told by Phase One that in this upgrade the new Engine 10 is responsible for all or most of the performance enhancements and a few extra features like auto masking for non-Bayer raw.
But there are no differences regarding image rendering like when going from engine 6 to 7 or from 8 to 9 (contrast sliders worked much different).0 -

From the 9 engine to the 10 engine may be OK (although people have noticed some subtle differences in things like the curve tool that may just be changed display criteria but .... but of course one still has the potential for auto-updating V6.7.8 as well as V9 images in older versions.
I think updating is a great idea. I just think it's worth taking a little time with a few examples from one's range of works first to make sure one is happy with the out come.
As for a mass update .... probably valid for catalogues. Not so important for Sessions.

Speed improvement on an nVidia 660ti is dramatic! Big virtual high-five to the engineering team who rocked this update!
