Printing -- what interpolation?
I wonder if anybody can tell me what method of interpolation is used for the sharpening in the printing module. I'm trying to determine if C1 uses some proprietary algorithm, like in Qimage (where you can choose e.g. the Hybrid method devised by the author of the app) or the standard ones, like Photoshop does. The former gives me superior results, that's why my question.
Another question once I'm at it, are there any guidelines what sharpening settings to use for specific paper sizes and paper types? I'm sure these types of questions are going to be asked once the printing feature gets to be used by more and more users of C1.
So far I like the implementation of the Printing module into C1, esp. the soft proofing and the sharpening slider (which leapfrog what Lightroom has to offer in this regard). I think a good development for the future would be the ability to make presets.

My standard of reference has always been Qimage, with either Hybrid or Pyramid algorithms.
Just for kicks, I ran a comparison with the same image, one printed via Qimage, and one printed
via C1-6. My sharpening settings in C1-6 ended up to almost the same settings I always use when
sharpening in PS: Amount - 225%; Radius - .3, Threshold - 0. This was for a Rebel XT raw file.
(The amount setting is not a lot, considering the very small radius.)
My final print size was full frame on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. When I carefully viewed the prints with
my dedicated lamp, I could see no differences in print quality: the C1-6 print was every bit as
good as the Qimage print. I don't know what algorithm is used in C1-6, but based on my test,
I'd say it's a good one.

Hi Rob, thanks for your reply -- it'll be interesting to see what others who print with Qimage and C1 have to say on this subject. Your comment sounds encouraging.
I've realized that my question about sharpening wasn't specific enough -- I didn't mean the settings in the Details tab of the converter (as they will be image specific) but rather about the one slider that's present in the Printing module (which, as I understand it, is output specific, i.e. glossy papers require different amounts than matt; also up- or downscaling to the driver's resolution will depend on the print size, etc). Its default value is 25. The preview doesn't have a 100% view so you can't actually see the difference between the default and the maximum value while soft-proofing, which forces you to do a number of comparative print-outs. So, maybe Phase One has some sort of guidelines for the usage of this slider. I've looked at the Help pages but I couldn't find any info on this.0
