Can not adjust READ ONLY raws...

Hello!

I have one specific problem: V4.0 on my windows XP, can not made any adjustments, no histogram, no preview, if my RAWs are LOCKED (ready only files).

I use Downloader Pro and i set up all my files to (at transfer to my computer) ready only mode.

i made this test with my Canon 5D and 20D

Can yours made this test (open a ready-only raw) at your system to compare with my workflow?

    I do not have Downloader Pro (DP) currently at hand, so I can only write down my assumptions.
    I suspect that DP sets the folder for the RAW files to read only, which will consequently make all files and folders in that folder read only. Since CO4 places its work and preview files in a subfolder of the raw files folder, it needs write (or change) permissions. This is prevented by the read only setting of the parent folder.
    I do not know the reason for using the locked setting in DP, but I am confident that CO4 (and previous versions of CO) only read the raw files. CO does not write to the raw files.

    Remove the LOCKED setting from DP and live happily.

    Yes, but this is a pain in the butt...

    It is another problem introduced in v4, v3 had no issues NOR DOES ANY OTHER RAW CONVERTER

    I reported this as a bug, but clearly many of us wasted our time, this is very broken software & frankly, there is little hope not only the bugs get ironed out, but the output is also off from at least my 40D & I bet others (but will use 3 for any older bodies)

    Downloader Pro made my raws read only for my security. All my backup (in CDs and DVDs) is read only. The problem about it is v4..... small bug.
    No problem to work, just select all files and disable read only, but...

    Thanks Nando for your feedback. I understand the read-only bit from CD copies and had the same solution in mine. Glad you understood that already.

    Hi Nando, no, personally I am done spending my time trying to help phaseone do the job they should do themselves, mainly because they do not pay any attention for whatever reason.

    In this new version, that was hailed as being the saviour for all the complications & slow updates to v3 turn out too just be a smoke screen, things have gone backwards, not forwards, indeed some things that were not broken in the betas is now broken in the final release ! only P1 has had such a record in my memory of dealing with software companies.

    The ONLY reason I am still here is because it is a user to user forum & I may be able to help a few poor buggers with some of the problems they face (namely banging heads on brick walls, but from time to time a wrok around to some clever features), but this one here was introduced in the first beta, remaind in the second & is in the third which has been labelled a "release", I could not be bothered giving energy to the support interface which has ignored so many issues and gives no reason to believe this will change.
