Why the delay to 100%?

Media Pro has been working great but...

All I'm doing is viewing thumbs and media, then suddenly the clock appears.
In the lower left, where it shows catalogue size, there is a % count up. At 1
second per 1%, 100% takes a while. Then things are fine for 10 minutes,
and it happens all over again. Why is this happening? I'd like to bypass this feature.

    I can't say I have ever seen this.
    I click on the lower right + to expand the process/action bar so I can follow save and rebuilds.
    But I have never see your clock in the lower left.

    Your Catalog is automatically saved... seemed you have activated "Autosave Catalog"
    every 10 Minutes... 😉

    Look under Edit> preferences>general
