referencing to alternate external HD's

I have my images referenced to an external HD. I want to load my images to another HD and then swap the HD's once per week. I'm guessing that I might have to change something in CO7 each time I connect the alternate HD. I am very wary of the procedure because many of my images are still "offline" from previously having transferred all my images to a larger HD. Advice would be appreciated. pb
