Capture One DB License limitation question
I'm trying to confirm a license limitation with the DB version of Capture One. Hopefully someone has been down this path before...
I understand that I can use C1 only on images created with my PhaseOne digital back. However, I am trying to migrate my Lightroom catalogue over to C1 as well. The "Import Catalogue" option is greyed out in the menu bar.
First Question: I assume that's a limitation of the DB license? To keep me from using C1 on images that might have been taken with a non-PhaseOne back.
Second Question: Capture One won't import images directly from the LR folders. I converted the IIQ images files to DNG during the LR import process. Does this mean the digital back data has been stripped from the image files? Which means that Capture One won't recognize that the images were in fact taken with a PhaseOne digital back?

I would guess that the issue is the DNG conversion.
If you can run the application in trial mode run it as "Pro" and see what that offers.
If you need an urgent official answer create a Support Case and ask for clarification - it will be quicker since this is a User to User forum and input from people who really know is not guaranteed to be timely, or indeed to happen at all.
HTH.

Thank you Grant...
I have been reading many of the posts here to learn a bit about the software. I see your name quite a bit, almost always attached to good advice.
I hadn't thought about the PRO trial ... I can do a bit of experimenting to see if it provides a permanent work-around (once the LR catalogues are migrated, if the DB version still recognizes them then I'm OK) or whether I'll need to upgrade my licence.
After posting my question above I decided to ask open a Support case. I had initially hesitated as I didn't want to bug them... but then changed my mind. I'll share what I find out for the next person searching these forums.
Cheers

Seth,
As a Phase digital back user I am sure the team would be more than happy to hear from you!
I can tell you that DNG files from my Phone are available in C1 Pro although I rarely do anything with them.
There have been, however, several versions of DNG standards and it is possible that not all are supported - some being perhaps obscure and little used?
Thank you for the kind words about my attempts to offer guidance. I hope that they offer something, even if only an idea for a new direction to investigate, in most cases. To me it is what a User to User forum is all about. One just has to accept that from time to time the advice offered may not be 100% complete - or indeed 1% complete!
So many variables to juggle.
