Customize toolbar does not stick
When I customize the toolbar in CO 10.0.2, the new settings do not stay put any longer than it takes to close a catalog window, then they immediately revert to the default tool set. Even if I have two catalog open and close just one, the other window will adopt the default toolbar immediately.
I thought at first it was only because I have a lot of crashes with version 10 and maybe the toolbar wasn't getting saved in the app preferences file after a good Quit event, but even after getting the app to successfully quit, the toolbar was back to default.
Anyone else having this problem?

Did you save your new workspace?
Menu - 'Window' - 'Workspace' - 'Save Workspace'.

Seriously?? This is the least intuitive thing I've ever seen, and it strays from the established norms of every other Mac application I've used.
When I select "Customize Toolbar...", I'm presented with a sheet that has a big "Done" button at the bottom. "Done" does not mean, "I'm good for now; I just wanted to change the toolbar for this one editing session," it means, "I've changed the toolbar to meet my needs and I no longer wish to customize it."
At the very least, the "Done" should be replaced with two buttons: "Save New Workspace..." and "Update Workspace." "Done" is completely inappropriate for a customization that is clearly not "done."0 -
Calm down, PDBreske. I'm just another user in this user to user forum.
If you don't like it, feel free to file a support case on Phase One's website. That's what we all do if we need their support because of questions, feature requests and bug reporting.

The concept of workspace in CO goes far beyond the simple customization of the toolbar. 0 -
The requirement to save any changes also allows you to have many different workspace settings for different purposes. IMHO this is a good thing! 0 -
Actually, I'm having the same issue. Since an upgrade last year, the process "gear" disappeared from the right of the toolbar on one of my machines (we run CO on four computers). When I customize the toolbar, it only lasts until the next launch of the application. This is not the case with my other installs. My gut is that it has to do with a corrupt "pref" file for the toolbar. I would love some advice on how to properly trash it, if anyone has any experience with that.
Thanks,

I suggest you search the web for 'capture one preferences' to find a quick and detailed answer. 0 -
Hi Paul.
Will do but I was really just wondering anyone had some magic way to target the UI prefs alone. Wishful thinking I guess 😉
Many thanks,

@PDBreske : I guess you have clicked on "Done" after having customized your toolbar.

Sorry, I jumped too far.... 😊0 -
I have to revisit this thread because I just opened CO to find my toolbar has reset to the defaults AGAIN ... after I deliberately saved the workspace (as I was told would save the toolbar earlier in this thread). Apparently, the "save the workspace" thing doesn't work either. When I reloaded the saved workspace, the toolbar didn't change. It just sat there looking all stupid and not at all like how I want it to look.
Three hundred dollars.

Peanuts really compared to the cost of most things photographic.
And most user don't seem to have this problem.
Which suggests you may need to look for some sort of remedial work on your system folders, based on previous posts around similar subjects.
Create a Support Case and take it from there.
Maybe a Mac user can come up with something for you here.
Trashing the plist entries seems to be a popular pass time for Macs but I don't know if that would apply here.0 -
I use the Mac version and don't have this problem. If you haven't already, I'd got with the "delete preferences" recommendation. That has fixed a number of odd problems I've had Support Tickets in for. 0
