Creating Contact Sheet: Resolution is Poor

Although I strictly do not understand 'poor resolution', I translate it in a kind of poor quality.

The web contact sheet feature is a quick-and-dirty trick for displaying a selection of images in a browser, and do it fast. Capture One does this by processing your raw images with the QuickProof algorithm, which bypasses several adjustments but not the most important ones like exposure, white balance and crop among others. So you get the picture, huh.

If you love this so much, you can replace the jpegs in the desktop/contact sheet/photos/previews folder with normally process images but you have to take care of the proper file name (add a job name in the process recipe).

    Thanks Paul.
I am giving it a go now. Why is it required to provide a Job Name at the Process?

    Hello Paul-
I tried this, processing higher quality images and replacing the existing ones in the "preview" folder. However the image quality when opened did not improve. The original size file was 1.4mb and the new one is 5.9.
One thing that may help identify what is going on is when the preview image is opened, it enlarges the view beyond the full size image, zoomed in at maybe 200-300%. I tried zooming out, but no luck. It does not zoom out far enough, meaning it will not zoom out to original size. Crops the image.

For giving it the correct naming convention automatically. Otherwise it won't be read.

For example, an image with the name PS110113-035.DNG will have a preview file name PS110113-035.DNG.p.jpg and not PS110113-035.jpg

So if you copied some high quality JPEGs into the previews folder of your contact sheet without the proper naming, chances are you are still looking at the original - less nice - jpegs, concluding that nothing has improved...

    Problem solved.
Changing the preview size between 600-100 and then opening the contact sheet w/ the non-default program, (Safari), I am now getting decent results.

What browser were you using initially, if I may ask (to get the picture)?

    Hi Paul,
My last response was in err. The default program was Safari. I switched to viewing w/ Firefox and this made all the difference. I have now switched the default program to Firefox...
