Hyoer sharp previews?
Hi I was curious, when in the viewer in C1 Pro, both in the main viewer as well as the second monitor viewer, the images look really sharp, almost hyper sharp, Not over shapr, but really good, yet upon processing them and opening them in photoshop, the are softer. Is that a quirk of the program or soemthing that gets lost in the conversion. It doesnt really matter what I have the C1 sharpening set to, the just lose it in comparison to the viewer.

Do you use CO 4.8.x, output to 100% TIFF or JPEG (no downsizing), evalaute in PS CS3 or CS4? Which raw file do you use? 0 -
Yes I am using 4.8 and outputting an 8 bit TIFF. I shoot with Canon 1ds mk3 and 1dmk3, so they are CR2 files 0 -
With one raw file of each of the cameras you mentioned (incl. sRAW from 1Ds III), I did a comparison (to satisfy my curiosity): CO 4.8.1, AdobeRGB 8-bit TIFF, CS3 & CS4 review.
When opening in CS3, I notice (very) small differences with the CO4 viewer regarding sharpening. In fact, the 1Ds III (full raw) image looked a bit more sharpened in CS3, where the sRAW cousin showed a small decrease. The 1D III image showed slightly less contrast and saturation in CS3.
When opening the TIFFs in CS4 however, on the same Mac/monitor combo, I noticed a remarkable decrease of sharpness which mimics your description.
That is the reason I asked you about whether you use CS3 or CS4, which you have not answered to yet, but I suspect it is the latter (which I do not use for this and another reason on my MacBook Pro with external monitor).0 -
My bad, I am running photoshop CS4. So you see the decrease as well? Good at least im not crazy! Any ideas on why ?.....and not about me being crazy, I meant an idea on why it goes soft like a 80 year old mans dick? I know theres a conversion engine and profile from canons dpp, and you can set the outputs on that as i had a similar finding when using dpp, but Im scratching my head on this one with C1 0 -
No mention of operating system. Wasn't there some issue of incorrect sharpening being applied or even spurious NR applied in older versions of C0v4 and the previous versions of OSX10.5? 0 -
Im on mac osx 10.5.7 and C1 4.8 latest if that helps. everythign is up to date. im just trying to figure out why its sharper in the c1 windows but once its processed, it looses its bite. Anyone? 0
