art directors hate the thin white outline of thumbnails

Some people will complain about anything.

I'm so "not bothered" by the white border that I couldn't even remember that it existed - I've had to fire up Cap One again to see what the problem is.

If the Mac version is like the Windows version, it only appears on the thumbnail of the open file.

    Seriously, this is a "problem"?

uh - yes. its a real workflow/productivity issue. if its hard to see that leads to mistakes and can be a really big deal on a pro shoot.

and the mac version thumbnail outline is alot more subtle than what you have there.

seriously i get complaints about this all of the time - please add some color back into the UI
and many times having the library panel open and a folder highlighted - i've had photographers send folder to the trash b/c they couldn't see that the highlight was on the shot folder and not the thumbnail window.

Keith - i complain about stuff that makes my work harder and especially when it was fine before

I also agree that it's a problem. Sure it's not that hard to see when you are sitting at your desk with a nice cup of coffee and time to relax. It's a big problem when you are a working professional on a fast paced shoot. More of a problem when your photo has a white background. That white outline does not stand out enough. Also when multiple thumbnails are selected the outline is a much thinner white border. The UI on v6 is not designed for a fast past work flow. It is pretty to look at but does not come close to the UI simplicity of v3.7.9. Unfortunately if we want to upgrade equipment then we also have to use the newer software. That's the only reason why I bought v6.

Also, the processed gear icon needs to be moved to outside the image area on the thumbnail. Again, like in v3.

yes i forgot about how the outline is on white backgrounds - it is ridiculous!
i would guess that a majority of professional photography is shot on a white bkgd - either models or products - and C1v6 has a thin white border? It's like the people who design and test are never on a real shoot.
and overall there needs to be more contrast in the UI - filenames and ratings get a little hard to see when there are alot of files.
low contrast in monochrome UI's sucks for faced paced pro work - I don't want to use Lion because of this (Pathfinder is much beter than Finder anyways)
Photoshop CS6 has low contrast UI issues too - I really think C1 needs to address the UI.

Yes I concur....that thin outline is a joke, but then again I think this entire interface is a joke and went downhill after version 3 and NOT afraid to say this. The Lightroom type interface IS weak weak weak too and sick of every software manufacturer heading in this direction! The masses are asses so I am sure many love it and not surprised one bit.

And I am simply amazed that it seems like Phase One doesn't seem to listen to complaints like this...I know they say they do, but apparently many I personally know just in Chicago alone gripe about using Phase One software constantly and that's not just one or two or three...it's almost every shooter I have either worked with as a digital tech or clients I have worked with shooting. Just seems odd to me and feels as if it gets worse. YES that's MY opinion and experience.

Have you raised a support case about it?

This is a user-to-user forum. If you want Phase One to fix something, tell them officially.

Or, maybe you are out of step?

I've never come across a UI yet that I couldn't adapt to in minutes - it's not hard.

    If you're willing.

the UI is OK - for a casual user, not working on high volume or faced paced shooting jobs. With art directors and photo editors who have some experience with the software - but not experts - it can be difficult for them to work with the muted UI. Again I am talking with the experience of hundreds of pro shoots with AD's and PE's. Since V6 uses orange (for some reason- instead of the user system color like V3) as the highlight color - make the selected thumbs have a thicker border - I'd rather it not only have to be orange but I'll take anything other than the 3 px white(!) border we have now.

Really - has anyone who designed this UI seen an image shot on a white wall or seamless?
BTW - Bridge CS6 has nice thumbnails and you can set the UI the way you like it-any highlight color too. I'd post a screenshot but not sure how to do it on this forum.
