Synchronize between two diffrent installed C1 4 versions
Hi folks,
I´ve installed one C1 4 Version on my notebook, another version on my PC (both are running under WinXP). On the notebook I´ve created an album "XY" and now I want to synchronize / update the PC-version with the same album (the pictures are all on an extern harddisk, so that should not be the problem).
I´ve searched all over the HD at the "XY" file, perhaps to copy it, but have found nothing similar. How does C1 4 store the informations about an album and how can I synchronize the two programms?
Thanks in forehand for any hint.

Interesting question.
An Album holds references to images within different folders on your hard disk(s). Capture One 4 stores that Album information in the file Capture One.col which you can find in the My Pictures/Capture One Library folder. Note that other information is stored in this file as well.
The advantage of this approach is that any adjustment made to an image in an Album, will appear when you use the folder to view it as well and vice versa. No images getting out of sync in different views and no additional storage.
As of today you cannot export/import such references to sync with another computer from within CO4. Even if you could, you can imagine that the images the Albums refers to must be stored in exact the same location on both computers. Not an easy task.
Copying the Capture One.col file between computers would probably not work either (not tried that) since more information on how the program runs on the computer is stored in that file. Talking about copying, if you make use of Albums and Variants in CO4, backup your Capture One.col file regularly. It can easily get corrupted and deleting it is the only way to get CO4 back into business, loosing your references. Restoring a good working version from a backup is a better alternative.0 -
I played around with the Capture One.col file some time ago, it is a SQLite Database so someone could write a tool to copy data from one computer to the other.
This wouldn't be easy, though. When I played around with it, I managed to get the data corrupted quite often 😉
What I was trying to do is find a way to use my DAM tool to make an album inside C1. But I gave up pretty fast as I thought that it will take me just too much time.0 -
Thanks a lot for the comprehensive help. Have made a new album on my PC by hand / C1 for security reason 😊 0
