canon m2 1ds teathered - hard crahsing intel octa core help!

hello hello,
we are having problems with our canon hard crasing the g5 every once in a while. it happens when we remove the fire wire cable from the back of the machine - anyone out there experinacing the same problem or have a solution -besides restarting the computer -

oh sorry using cap 3.7.7 and latest firm wear on canon
machine is a octa intel 16 gig ram, startup is 250gig 7200rpm.
