    Yes Ronny,

I've been thinking about this too, just like the "preview" in Photoshop.

    Hello,

The easiest way to toggle between settings is to save your new settings as a Style and then toggle back and forth between the new style and the neutral style.

The easiest way to do this is to use the tool built for it. It's called the Preview Switch, and there is a Before/After button, both horizontal and vertical. it allows you to have two versions of the image side by side, the original and the modified one. If you like what you've done to the image then simply go into full screen mode, otherwise use the menu Image -> Revert to Before.

If you don't have the Preview Switch in your tool bar you will find it under View -> Customize Toolbar, just drag it into the tool bar and you're done.

    Hi

Will C1 4.0 have a preview feature and one or multiple undo, so we won't have to go through all these extra steps ofg saving as style or the Preview Switch, and Before/After button?...

Also, will C1 v 4 allow to tag processed files like Tiff and JPEGS, so one can still edit or reedit with a client for ex. after the files have been processed?...

Thanks for answering BOTH questions if you can.

    Veronique,

The new feature called Variants will allow you to try out many different settings combinations on a single image wile using almost no extra disk space or memory.

Also 4.0 does support tagging of processed files, although I would not really recommend using C1 for viewing processed files as you will not experience the same performance as you see with RAW files. My guess is that you want to edit between files processed from different folders, such as the selects from differetn shots? If this is the case, our new Albums feature will allow you to view images from different folders at the same time.

    Hi Jon,

    Thanks for your response(s)...😊

Looks like C1 v4 will have great new features!... I'm not the only one who complained I imagine... 😊

The tagging of processed files is to allow to do differrent taggings and selecting for different purposes or people actually. To present and pick different selections for a client, the model, my website... etc... but on the already processed files and not have to separate in various folders and then need to recombine to make a new selection for the next purpose or person.

It seems that the "Album" feature will serve that purpose even better. Will that be available for the processed files as well as RAW files?

Another question... (since you are so nice... 😊 or 2... 😊

Will the DNG and XMP compatibility works retroactively on existing files?
I'm archiving my C1 sessions right now and saving the XMP files with it, to use in Bridge later on.
Will I be able to read those previously set XMP or DNG settings in v.4 when I add a session to re-work on it in the future?

    Oups one more!...
Will the tagging, star rating, metadata and other settings (like rotaion of vertical images, etc... ) done in Bridge and iView Media Pro be readable in C1 v4?
Are those infos saved in XMP files and therefore will be recognized by C1 too?... I suppose so... but can you confirm that I understand properly?

I can't wait to see and use this new version will all those new features!...
Any word yet when this jewel will be out? ... even aproximately so... for the beta version for ex?

    Thanks again

    kindly,

    Veronique

    Veronique,

You may have noticed out site has been a little slower today. this is because beta launched this morning, so go ahead and try it out for yourself! Keep in mind that it is beta and therefore not a finished product.

As for the albums, they do work with processed files.

I am not sure exactly what you mean by DNG working retroactively on existing files. 4.0 has the ability to read and export DNG (although DNG support is currently preliminary in the Beta)

As per the release notes, settings from 3.7.x will not be readable in Beta 4.0, also image adjustments made in beta will not be readable in the final release.

Tagging in Bridge does not show in C1 4.0 and vice versa, these settings are held in different files. Bridge: in sidecar .xmp files, C1: in .p1s capture settings files.

Any more questions should be posted in the Capture One 4 forum: http://forum.phaseone.com/viewforum.php?f=10
